Haggis Jessop (our cat) doesn't have a mobile phone as instead he gives all his spare pocket money to help look after his feline cousins at Cats Protection. They are given a second chance in life by Cats Protection who look after thousands of cats in their care every year. You can help cats like Haggis through the site Cats Protection.
If you are looking for some holiday reading, Haggis can highly recommend any of the books in the series 'A Street Cat Named Bob' written by James Bowen. Beautiful stories which all cat lovers will adore - if you're a dog lover on the other hand, Haggis and all his feline friends hope that you and your dog will have a lovely holiday at a gite where there aren't any cats to chase!
Looking for accommodation for a group of more than five (as the sixth person would have to share Haggis's basket), you may want to have a look at the following websites:
The Gite Tonic in St Auban is an outdoor centre which has everything from dormitories to ensuite rooms. Prices are very reasonable, breakfast and other meals throughout the day are also available. Ideal for groups.
La Pinatelle is an excellent campsite, in St Auban, with small pool, restaurant and mobile homes for hire, open from April to October. Please check the opening and closing dates with the owners.
Allez-up near Laragne.
Maison de Moulin near Annecy is a great place for pilots to stay with a lovely welsh welcome!
The Foulon in the Gorge du Loup, half an hour from Nice.
Chalet Chardons offers cheap accommodation in Tignes Les Brevieres for those wishing to ski or snowboarding further north in the French Alps.
Isle of Skye, Scottish Highlands. If you fancy staying in the UK, our friends Hamish and Shelagh are now renting out their holiday cottage on the Island of Skye. I can think of no better place to sit in the garden, watching the sun set whilst sipping a glass of white wine - or a whisky - having done both frequently with Hamish and Shelagh.
For paragliding coaching we recommend our long time friend Pat Dower. Coaching for all levels of qualified paraglider pilot up to elite level. Philosophy: Fly higher, further, better, faster - no glass ceilings.
“I believe strongly that every pilot can improve: become more skilled; achieve more; improve performance, become safer and most importantly get more fun out of the sport. Helping other pilots to improve is for me, one of the most rewarding aspects of being involved in paragliding.”
